I29 Dragway is starting back up its Bracket Racing Program for 2024!
Race Dates are July 20th & 21th (canceled) and August 3rd and 4th

Saturday gates open at 10am.  Time trials (2) at 1:00pm

Sunday gates open at 8am.  Time trial (1) at 9:00am

  • There are 4 separate points races for all classes, except Motorcycles.

    • Motorcycles are only offered on June 20th & 21st.

  • ​The Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series (SSDRS)/Track Championship program for I-29 Dragway includes: Box, No Box, Sportsman, Jr Dragsters, Teen Racing, Motorcycle

  • These classes will be contested in accordance with the WDRA SSDRS World Championship rules.

To be eligible for the WDRA ET Bracket Finals and for the WDRA World Championship you must join the I-29 points program. Registration forms can be filled out at the track. You must have a WDRA license/membership before you can earn points. Go to racewdra.com/license, or call 567-224-0568.

 

Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series I-29 points registration $50.00.

Teen racing points registration $25.00

Points will be awarded as follows.

  • 10 points for entering

  • Each round win starting with 1st round – 10 points

  • Winner of class will receive 5 bonus points

  • R/U of the class will 3 bonus points

  • If you lose the first round, buyback and win 2nd round, then starting with round 3 you will receive 10 points per round.

Benefits of becoming a I-29 Dragway Registered Points Racer

  1. Opportunity to earn I-29 Dragway Track Championship

  2. Each SSDRS I-29 Track Champion earns an automatic pass to represent I-29 Dragway at the WDRA Summit Sportsman World Championship in Montgomery, AL.

  3. Opportunity to earn a spot on the I-29 Dragway WDRA ET Bracket Finals team at Eddyville Raceway Park in Eddyville, IA. which is September 5th-8th.  ET Finals Class Champions earn a pass to the WDRA Summit Sportsman World Championship in Montgomery, AL.

License

  1. To have the opportunity to gain points, a WDRA license is required.

  2. Jr.'s must have a sanctioned body license to race (WDRA, NHRA, IHRA, etc.)

  3. All other racers who are not minors are NOT required to have a sanctioned body license; however, it is advised.

Class Rules

​

Box Class

  • ET Break 0 – 9.00

  • Designated as “electronics permitted” E.T. handicapped classes

  • Computer, delay boxes, trans brake, line lock, automatic shifter, shift timer, starting line/“high side” rev limiters permitted, data recorders allowed.

  • Accutime Crosstalk Tree will be active

  • Delay box may only display delay amount dialed in, analog or digital display permitted.

  • Inspectors must be able to identify all direct wiring clearly.

No Box

  • No ET Break

  • Designated as no “electronics permitted” E.T. handicapped classes

  • Computer, unless OEM stock - PROHIBITED

  • Delay boxes are prohibited and must be removed from the vehicle. Starting-line enhancers are
    prohibited. Nitrous, two steps, trans brakes and automated shifters permitted.

  • EV permitted.

Sportsman

  • ET Break 7.40 & slower

  • Designated as “electronic prohibited” ET handicapped classes

  • Permitted are Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) computer

  • Data recorders, delay boxes, trans brake, automated shifter (unless OEM), throttle stops, and stutter boxes are PROHIBITED.

  • Two-wheel line locks are permitted on non-drive wheels only.

  • Single stage high side rev limiter permitted

  • Starting line rev limiter prohibited. Must not affect down track RPM in anyway.

  • Slicks are permitted, and mufflers are optional.

  • Nitrous Prohibited

  • EV permitted.

 

JR Dragster

Motorcycle

  • Box and No box separate till only 1 left in either class.

  • Box bikes at ET Finals will have to race with cars.

  • WDRA World Finals Bike Class is for No Box Bikes only.

  •  If box bike wins Championship, they will have to race with cars at the World Finals.

Motorcycle Payout

  • Winner 40%

  • Runner up – 20%

  • Semi – 10%

  • Last No Box Bike standing 20%

Teen Racing

  • Age 13 to 17

  • 9.00 and slower

  • All Vehicles must be licensed and insured with mufflers and street tires

  • Purpose built race cars not permitted

  • Vehicles must be also having the correct state issued license plate

  • Dealer tags, paper tags, temporary tags, etc. are prohibited.

  • Vehicle may not have wheel tubs or have been back halved

  • A copy of the current vehicle registrations and insurance must be on file with I-29 Dragway

  • Vehicles must be able to pass all state highway safety requirements for the state in which the vehicle is registered.

  • Teen racing will not run for World Championship only the ET Finals at Eddyville.

Prohibited in Teen Racing

  • Race cars & motorcycles

  • Wheel tubs, cars that are back halved, slicks.

  • EV vehicles

  • The use of electronics is prohibited.

  • Aftermarket EFI systems prohibited, OEM fuel injection allowed if the year, make and

  • Model of the vehicle came with it from the factory.

Trophy Class – (no points) Will not be contested at ET Finals or World Finals.

(This class is intended to be for Novice racers)

  • No delay boxes.

  • No throttle stops.

  • No Trans brakes.

  • No two steps

​

All classes contested on a .500 Sportsman tree.

In any Box class crosstalk will be on.
